The first post - who am I?

I'm Markus and am 37 years old. I work as an equity research analyst at Morgan Stanley, one of the world's leading investment banks. My main hobbies are photography and travelling (passionate about both (!!) which any readers will soon discover). I am currently going through some life changing phases so I thought I would start writing about it. I will use pictures to illustrate and will try to write a little every day. But we'll see...

I bought a ring last week, an engagement ring. 1.25 carats and E colour (it really really sparkles). Have been seeing Maria, or Masha as she's mainly called for a little more than a year and I thought it was time. I know that she's the one I want to be with and she's also going to be the mother of my child (yes, will come back to that later). To be honest I had already asked her if she wanted to marry me so that part was not a surprise. She did not expect the ring right now though, so had the opportunity to ask her again. I did it at home. On the couch... Given that everyone has been asking about how I did it maybe I should have done it elsewhere. Oh well...

I bought the ring in Hatton Garden, the diamond district in London. Bought it from a family friend of Lien's (a friend) - a Vietnamese guy called Dai. Very odd experience. Visited many times. The little shop was small and was almost like a small flat. The little door looked very conspicuous - not exactly shady but it felt a bit odd walking up there and checking out diamonds. All went well - the ring is very nice!

Here it is - the ring... I gave it to her on 24 July...

And the little one.. We call him or her Liten... Liten is now 17 weeks old and 14 cm. We'll have the next ultrasound in 2 weeks. If we want to we will be able to tell if it'll be a boy or a girl but we haven't decided yet.

Here's Liten at the first ultrasound (June 19th).

Oh well. I'll leave it there. Until next time.
